BRIDGEWATER — Town Manager Michael Dutton invites community members to apply to join a new ad hoc committee on diversity, equity and inclusion.
The committee is expected to provide recommendations to the Town Manager for ways to improve communication across the town, break down real and perceived barriers, engage traditionally unengaged populations and propose ways the town can be a better advocate for diversity, equity and inclusion.
The Town Manager’s Office will be looking for up to 10 diverse committee members who are thoughtful, considerate and committed residents with varied knowledge, skills and abilities.
“While Bridgewater has made significant strides in addressing implicit biases in its recruitment and hiring processes, we need a place and a group that focuses on helping our residents feel welcomed and heard, no matter who they are or what their background is,” Town Manager Dutton said. “I hope for this committee to examine ways that the town can better serve the needs of all residents.”
The town hopes to have the committee members selected by the end of January. Interested residents are encouraged to apply with a letter of interest to Town Manager, 66 Central Square, Bridgewater, MA 02324, or TownManager@BridgewaterMA.org.
Applicants are asked to include any information demonstrating specific knowledge, skills or abilities which would be helpful to the committee.
Questions about the committee can be directed to the Town Manager’s office at TownManager@BridgewaterMA.org or 508-697-0919.
