BRIDGEWATER — Chief Christopher D. Delmonte reports that the Bridgewater Police Department arrested a man in the woods after he allegedly stole auto parts from a business.
JESSE MASSE, AGE 29, OF EAST BRIDGEWATER was charged with:
- Trespassing
- Breaking and Entering in the Daytime with the Intent to Commit a Felony
- Possession of a Burglarious Instrument
- Attempted Larceny
- Receiving Stolen Property
- Malicious Damage to Motor Vehicle
At approximately 3:40 p.m. Friday, Dec. 4, Bridgewater Police responded to Best Auto Parts, 2109 Old Plymouth Street, for a report of a burglary in progress.
The business owner reportedly observed the suspect, later identified as MASSE, allegedly stealing parts from vehicles in the business’s scrap yard. After being seen by the business owner, MASSE fled from the scrap yard, over a fence into a wooded area behind the business.
Responding officers set up a perimeter around the wooded area with the assistance of the East Bridgewater and Halifax police departments. K9 officers from the Bridgewater Police Department and the Plymouth County Sheriff’s Department responded to assist in the search.
While an extensive search was being conducted, MASSE was located in the woods behind Best Auto Parts. The officers placed MASSE under arrest without incident. He was transported and booked at the Bridgewater Police Department.
A Nissan Maxima registered to MASSE was located in the parking lot of Nick and Angelo’s Pizza, which is adjacent to Best Auto Parts. Bridgewater Detectives applied for and were granted a search warrant for the vehicle. During the subsequent search, several tools were located that are commonly used to remove catalytic convertors as well as multiple catalytic convertors.
MASSE was expected to be arraigned today at Brockton District Court.
These are allegations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty.
