DRACUT —Acting Chief Stephen Chaput reports that the Dracut Police Department is investigating a bank robbery that occurred earlier today.
At approximately 10:44 a.m., officers responded to Santander Bank, 1985 Lakeview Ave., for a report of an unarmed bank robbery. Upon arrival, police launched an initial investigation and learned that a male suspect passed a note to a bank employee and subsequently fled with an undisclosed amount of cash.
The suspect is described as a white male in his early 30s who is approximately 5-feet-9-inches tall, with a slim build and wearing khaki pants, clear surgical gloves, a black mask, a black hooded sweatshirt and a flat brimmed baseball cap.
He allegedly fled on foot behind the bank and toward the area of Myron and Alder Streets to a light blue or silver Hyundai SUV. K-9 officers and officers from the Northeast Massachusetts Law Enforcement Council responded and provided assistance with the search for the suspect. The incident remains under investigation.
