Event to Take Place Sunday, Dec. 6 at Sippican Elementary School
MARION — Chief John Garcia and the Marion Police Brotherhood are pleased to invite residents to the “Fill-A-Cruiser – Cruise By” toy drive for local children in need next weekend.
WHEN:
Sunday, Dec. 6 from 10 a.m. to noon
WHERE:
Sippican Elementary School, Bus Loop Area, 16 Spring St.
WHAT:
The Marion Police Brotherhood will be hosting the drive-thru event to benefit the Justice Resources Institute, a local non-profit organization which provides foster care and adoption services for children and adolescents in the community.
“While we are unable to host our annual Pizza with Santa celebration due to COVID-19, we are excited to still be able to come together as a community to help those in need through this drive-thru event,” said Chief Garcia. “We encourage all residents to participate if they are able to help us bring holiday cheer to the children in our community.”
Residents are encouraged to donate new and unwrapped toys, personal hygiene items, socks, gloves, hats, scarves or winter coats for all ages and sizes.
On the day of the event, donors should enter the bus loop area and drive to the door where Santa will be seated. Donors are asked to remain in their vehicle and a “helper elf” will approach your vehicle to collect donations. All helpers will be wearing masks during the collection. Marion Police request that all vehicle occupants also wear a mask while attending the event.
Children are encouraged to write a letter to Santa. Letters will be collected and placed in a special mailbox at the event.
Additionally, goodies will be handed out to children. Residents are asked to register for the event here to ensure there will be enough for all children who attend.
