ACTON — Chief Richard Burrows reports that the Acton Police Department responded to a report of an armed robbery Wednesday evening at a Subway restaurant located in town.
At approximately 8:05 p.m., Acton Police responded to the Subway restaurant at 134 Great Road for a report of an armed robbery. Upon the initial investigation, police found that a suspect reportedly brandished a handgun to a clerk at the restaurant and demanded money.
The suspect then is believed to have fled the restaurant on foot with an undetermined amount of cash and headed west down the Bruce Freeman Rail Trail located behind the restaurant.
The suspect is described as a male, approximately 6 feet tall with a large build, wearing a black hoodie, a mask and gloves.
The Massachusetts State Police K-9 unit assisted Acton Police in the search for the suspect for approximately one hour before the search was called off.
There is not believed to be any active threat to the public at this time, and there were no injuries reported as a result of the incident.
