MEDWAY — Superintendent Armand Pires and Principal John Murray are pleased to announce that 46 seniors at Medway High School are among seniors statewide to receive a John and Abigail Adams Scholarship this year.

Students in Cohort A were recognized on Tuesday, Nov. 10 and students in Cohort B were recognized on Friday, Nov. 13, both during a socially-distanced ceremony. Students in Cohort D will be recognized at a later date.

“The John and Abigail Adams Scholarship is a recognition of academic success and we congratulate these students on this achievement and the hard work and dedication that it represents,” Principal Murray said.

This scholarship is available to students whose MCAS performance puts them in the top 25% of their district. To be eligible, students must either score Advanced on the English, Math and Science exams, or Advanced on one exam and High Proficient on the other two. Students take the MCAS tests in the spring of their sophomore year.

Recipients of the Adams Scholarship are granted a four-year scholarship upon their acceptance to a participating Massachusetts public institution of higher education, including the four undergraduate campuses of the University of Massachusetts, all nine state universities and all 15 community colleges. The exact amount of the Adams Scholarship will depend on the institution in which the student enrolls, but for full-time, in-state students, it currently averages:

  • At the undergraduate campuses of the University of Massachusetts: a credit of $1,575 per year toward total student charges
  • At the state universities: a credit of $1,036 per year toward total student charges
  • At the community colleges: a credit of $740 per year toward total student charges

The following Medway High School seniors have earned an Adams Scholarship:

Ryan Abbott, Elissa Alarmani, Eli Aoun, Rita Aoun, Sujith Atluri, Joshua Auler, Lauren Beach, Aoife Bergeron, Zaid Bhatti, Lindsey Blenkhorn, Molly Britton, Grace Brueckner, Mia Cence, Leah Coffey, Nicholas Der Garabedian, Jaylen Desronvilles, Sophie Donovan, Elizabeth Downing, Ellen Early, Andrew Faichey, Sophia Flotta, Haley Garvin, John Guagenty, John Harrahy, Maxwell Hundertmark, Shay Lennon, Daniel MacDonald, Veronica McAdams, Connor McCaul, Madelyn McDermott, Cayla McGonigle, Carlton Meredith, William Miller, Tony Pylee, Sreenidhi Ravipati, William Reynolds, Abigail Ross, Heather Scheid, Lauren Shea, Samuel Theodore, Nicholas Tomaseti, Maya Twamley, Rena Weafer, Jessica Wong, Lillian Woodard and Nicholas Zanella.
