IPSWICH — Chief Paul A. Nikas is pleased to announce the Ipswich Police Association will be hosting a virtual fundraiser for The Open Door food pantry to help support families in need this Thanksgiving.
All of the funds raised will be donated to The Open Door, which has two food pantries – one in Ipswich and one Gloucester — that serve community members in Gloucester, Rockport, Ipswich, Manchester, Essex, Rowley, Topsfield, Boxford, Hamilton and Wenham.
Those who wish to donate may do so by clicking here. The fundraiser will be open through Thanksgiving and the Ipswich Police Association has pledged up to $1,000 in matching funds.
In previous years, the Ipswich Police Department has held Fill-A-Cruiser events, where community members were able to drop off canned goods and non-perishable items to donate to the local food pantry. However, this year’s campaign will be held virtually due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
“We are proud to be able to give back to our community and help support this incredible organization that helps our residents, especially during this challenging time,” Chief Nikas said. “The support we’ve received from our community is vital to our success as a department, so we are proud to be able to give back in this way.”
