LOWELL — Superintendent Raymond Kelly Richardson is pleased to announce that members of the Lowell Police Department are taking part in No Shave November to raise money for multiple charities.
Through the campaign, members of the department may forgo facial hair restrictions during November and donate or raise $100 to support Lowell General Hospital’s TeamWalk for CancerCare and Angel Flight Northeast.
The TeamWalk for CancerCare benefits cancer patients by assisting with funding for medications, nutritional supplements, wigs, prostheses, skilled nursing care, transportation and more. Angel Flight Northeast helps fund transportation for patients to receive specialized medical care.
There are 34 department employees participating in the initiative this year. So far, the department has raised a combined $5,295for the two organizations.
“No Shave November is something our officers look forward to taking part in every year as a way to show support for a cause that is meaningful to them,” Superintendent Richardson said. “This year, officers will be raising awareness and support for two very deserving organizations which are doing great work that is critical, especially for the moment we’re all experiencing, and I’m extremely proud of those efforts.”
