CHELMSFORD —Chief James Spinney is pleased to announce that members of the Chelmsford Police Department are taking part in No Shave November to raise money to support those battling cancer in the region.
Through the campaign, members of the department may forgo facial hair restrictions during November and donate or raise money to support Lowell General Hospital’s TeamWalk for CancerCare fundraiser. All proceeds benefit cancer patients by assisting with funding for medications, nutritional supplements, wigs, prostheses, skilled nursing care, transportation and more.
There are approximately 20 members of the department participating in the initiative this year.
“Our officers take tremendous pride in being able to show their support for an important cause each November by growing a beard and donating to a deserving organization,” Chief Spinney said. “I want to invite residents who are able to do so to join us in supporting TeamWalk for CancerCare.”

About TeamWalk for CancerCare:
For 20 years, thousands of people from across the Merrimack Valley have taken to the streets of downtown Lowell each spring for TeamWalk for CancerCare, raising millions of dollars over that span to support cancer patients in need.
This year’s walk was planned for May 31 at LeLacheur Park, but COVID-19 pandemic forced TeamWalk to do things a little differently. This year’s event was dubbed TeamWalk on Your Terms and asked people to walk and raise money their own way. Donors across the Merrimack Valley responded by raising more than $363,000.
