DIGHTON — Fire Chief and Emergency Management Director Christopher Maguy would like to share with residents information ahead of this evening’s state emergency alert.
A Wireless Emergency Alert will be sent to cellphones in the Berkley area this evening regarding the risk of COVID-19 in the area.
It is expected that residents in bordering communities may also receive the alert, and Dighton officials would like to make residents aware that the alert will be directed specifically at Berkley residents.
This is a standard, routine alert that is sent by the state to those in some “Red” high risk communities as a reminder to follow the proper health and safety precautions. The alert does not necessarily indicate an additional rise in cases in the specified community.
