WEYMOUTH  — Superintendent Jennifer Curtis-Whipple announces that Weymouth Public Schools has launched a COVID-19 dashboard to keep community members up-to-date with the district’s latest information regarding the pandemic.

“Our district remains committed to transparency as we continue to communicate and share information regarding the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic,” Superintendent Jennifer Curtis-Whipple said. “With this dashboard, the district will be able to share updated data every week to our community members. We hope that this dashboard will help answer questions students and families may have in regard to our COVID-19 numbers.”

The Weymouth Public Schools’ COVID-19 dashboard can be found online here, and it will be updated weekly by 6 p.m. each Thursday.

The dashboard includes 11 categories that cover both student and staff data within the district such as the number of students, faculty and staff that are in the district; how many confirmed positive cases of COVID-19 there are; how many people are quarantining and more. The dashboard will also be modified to include specific school information and cases that are within each school once more students return to the buildings.

The dashboard will also be available in Portuguese, Arabic and Spanish translations.

The data used for the dashboard is collected by the district’s Coordinator of Health Services, and confirmed with the Weymouth Health Department and advisory team. The data shared is also confirmed by the state through the Department of Public Health’s Massachusetts Virtual Epidemiologic Network (MAVEN) online information system.

Data from previous weeks will be accessible on the dashboard webpage for community members to review as well. The district acknowledges that the Weymouth community is currently in the red, but at this time these are community based cases and not cases within the Weymouth Public Schools.

The dashboard also features links to information about testing site locations, how COVID-19 spreads, symptoms, testing, protecting yourself and frequently asked questions.

Along with the dashboard, Weymouth Public Schools will continue to update the school community when a positive case has been reported via a school messenger alert to individual school stakeholders. There may be time between the letters sent and the state’s reporting of WPS cases in MAVEN.
