GEORGETOWN — John Guilfoil Public Relations LLC (JGPR) is proud to announce the company has received an Honorable Mention in the 2020 PRNEWS Platinum PR Awards in the category of “Public Relations Team of the Year.” This distinction, naming the company as a finalist among the top public relations agencies and departments in the nation, is the latest honor the growing company has earned in recent years for its work with its public safety, municipal and school clients.
“We have really worked to cultivate a team culture at JGPR, and even through this challenging year where our offices were closed for a period of time due to COVID-19, we’ve stayed connected and are stronger than ever,” said company founder John Guilfoil. “2020 has been the most challenging year in our company’s 7-year history, and despite the global pandemic and its economic impact, we’ve been able to bring on new employees and offer new services as our clients need help now more than ever.”
The annual PRNEWS Platinum PR Awards recognize the most imaginative messaging campaigns, exceptional communicators and top-notch teams in the public relations space across the globe. Hosted virtually on October 27 amid the COVID-19 pandemic, the PRNEWS Platinum Awards drew from hundreds of entries in more than 55 categories, from global PR campaigns to CEO of the Year. JGPR was one of five finalists in the PR Team of the Year category.
JGPR’s crisis management, media relations, content production, web design, and video services have been in high demand as a result of the global pandemic, with the company launching more than a dozen COVID-19 news portals, producing nearly 100 public health PSAs, and writing nearly 1,000 press releases and letters home about COVID-19 safety and response.
“JGPR staff have shown a lot of spirit and pride in their work this year,” said JGPR Vice President Benjamin Paulin. “We’ve rallied as a team and everyone’s stepped up and contributed.”

In June, JGPR swept the Local/Regional Television News Placement category at the 52nd Annual Bell Ringer Awards—the fifth consecutive year that JGPR had been honored by the PR Club and the second time in the company’s history that it has received a Gold Bell Ringer. In 2016, JGPR received a Gold Bell Ringer and was a finalist for the PR Campaign of the Year/Platinum Super Bell for its work on the Gloucester ANGEL Initiative. This is the first PR News Platinum Award for the company, which has been honored by the PR NEWS trade group in the past, with Account Manager Jordan Mayblum previously named a Public Relations Rising Star Age 30 and Under and John Guilfoil receiving four national awards over the past five years, including Public Affairs Professional of the Year, Crisis Manager of the Year, and being named among the 50 national “Gamechangers of Public Relations” in 2017.
