HAVERHILL — Superintendent Maureen Lynch announces that Whittier Tech will hold its annual Open House Event remotely this weekend.
WHEN:
Sunday, Nov. 1 at 1 p.m.
WHERE:
The Open House will be held remotely. To participate, visit Whittier Tech’s website here.
WHO:
Whittier Tech educators will be featured during the open house, sharing videos about respective career and technical programs, as well as tours of the spaces students use. Everyone interested in attending or transferring to Whittier Tech and/or learning more about its programs is encouraged to attend remotely.
WHAT:
Whittier Tech holds an open house for prospective students each year on the first Sunday of November. Due to COVID-19, the district is holding a remote event and will be sharing informational videos touring program classrooms, labs, shops and facilities and providing additional information on all of its career and technical programs.
“We have so many programs that offer amazing opportunities to young people looking to learn about a particular field and hone their skills, and the Open House can really be the turning point when a student can envision themselves here, thriving and growing,” Superintendent Lynch said. “With the ongoing pandemic, we knew an in-person Open House like we’ve had in the past simply wasn’t realistic, and so our faculty and staff have worked tremendously hard to prepare for this remote open house. We look forward to sharing it with prospective students and their families.”
The Open House is open to eighth grade students and families from the district’s sending communities including Amesbury, Georgetown, Groveland, Haverhill, Ipswich, Merrimac, Newbury, Newburyport, Rowley, Salisbury and West Newbury, as well as students interested in transferring to the school.
A web page with all the videos will be made live this Sunday at 1 p.m. and will remain available for the foreseeable future. Those who cannot remotely attend the open house at 1 p.m. on Sunday are encouraged to visit the page when they have time to review the open house videos and information.
Additional downloadable resources will be available on the Open House web page for prospective students and families looking to learn more about Whittier Tech, a specific program, student clubs and groups, athletics and so on.
Whittier Tech offers career and technical programs in subject areas including design and visual communications; graphic communications; cosmetology; culinary; early education and care; hospitality management; marketing-business management; carpentry; electrical; masonry; plumbing; CAD/drafting; health assisting; medical assisting; dental assisting; business technology; electronics/robotics; engineering technology; heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (H.V.A.C.); machine technology; metal fabrication; autobody/collision repair and automotive technology.
