SAUGUS — Chief Michael Ricciardelli reports that the Saugus Police Department responded after a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle Monday night.
Just after 7:10 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 19, the Saugus Police and Fire Departments responded to the area of 69 Sweetwater Road for a report of a pedestrian that was struck. Upon arrival, officers determined that the female victim, a 70-year-old East Boston resident, had been struck and was pinned underneath a Chevy pickup truck driven by a 59-year-old Saugus man.
The victim, who was conscious and alert when first responders arrived, was brought to a local hospital by ambulance to be treated for injuries that are considered serious, but not life threatening.
The driver was not injured.
The incident remains under investigation by the Saugus Police Department.
