NEW LONDON — Superintendent Winfried Feneberg and Principal Christine Downing are pleased to announce that Sutton Central Elementary School families were able to get a glimpse of a day in their students’ lives during a series of virtual Open Houses this week.
The virtual events were held over the course of Wednesday, Oct. 14 and Thursday, Oct. 15 as an opportunity for parents and guardians to meet their child’s teachers and learn important information about the current school year. Teachers also prepared overviews of curriculum expectations for each grade with a focus on literacy, numeracy, and project-based learning.
“We love connecting with families each fall, and letting them know what their students will be doing the upcoming school year,” Principal Downing said. “These virtual events allowed us to meet and discuss a variety of topics with parents about our learning model. Thank you for all who joined us.”
Families were able to view two videos created by staff to give them a sense of how remote learning is going, including a Day in the Life video as well as one where students share their experience with remote learning.
“We are grateful that the start of the school year has been so successful,” Superintendent Feneberg. “We are lucky to have such strong, resilient families and staff members in our community. Thank you for everyone for your cooperation and understanding over these last few weeks, and your commitment to providing our students the best possible learning experience during these unique times.”
