BRAINTREE — Chief Mark Dubois reports that the Braintree Police Department is investigating a break-in at a local Burger King that occurred early Tuesday morning.

At approximately 4:30 a.m., Braintree Police officers were dispatched to Burger King, located at 165 Pearl St., for a report of a break-in.

Upon arrival, officers spoke with an employee who stated that they arrived to open the store at approximately 4:20 a.m. When the employee entered the store, they noticed one of the cash registers broken open on the ground.

Officers cleared the building and found four cash registers in the store that appeared to be forced open and were empty. An undisclosed quantity of cash was taken from the registers.

Officers also found items that appeared out of place throughout the store. A backpack of miscellaneous tools was found in the store and a wrench was found on the floor near one of the emptied registers. Officers did not observe any sign of forced entry.

The incident remains under active investigation. Anyone who believes they have information about this incident is asked to contact the Braintree Police Department Detective Division at 781-794-8620.
