EAST BRIDGEWATER — Chief Paul O’Brien is pleased to invite residents to join members of the East Bridgewater Police Department for their upcoming events to celebrate National Coffee with a Cop Day.
WHEN:
Wednesday, Oct. 7, from 10-11 a.m. and 1-2 p.m.
WHERE:
The morning event will take place at the East Bridgewater Community Center, 355 Plymouth St.
The afternoon event will take place at Dunkin Donuts, 204 N. Bedford St.
WHAT:
Residents, business owners and community members are invited to meet with East Bridgewater Police officers to engage in meaningful conversation over a cup of coffee — or two.
There is no set agenda for the event, but rather a chance for residents to meet the officers who serve their community, ask questions and express any concerns they may have.
Coffee will be provided courtesy of Dunkin Donuts and the East Bridgewater Police Department.
All events will occur outdoors in accordance with social distancing measures due to COVID-19. Social Distancing and mask wearing will be required.
“We are excited to have found a way, even in these difficult times, to host one of our favorite events. We believe that it is important for our community to meet our police officers and to get to know the people who are serving their community better,” Chief O’Brien said. “I encourage everyone who can to come out and get a free cup of coffee on Wednesday and talk to our officers while still maintaining social distancing and mask wearing.”
About Coffee with a Cop:
Coffee With a Cop began in Hawthorne, California in 2011 as a result of police officers brainstorming ways to better interact with their community. They developed a simple plan to break down the barriers that have been built between police officers and citizens — have a cup of coffee, discuss what’s on your mind, ask questions and make suggestions that could better the community.
Since its creation, Coffee With a Cop events have been held in more than 2,000 communities in 49 states. It is regarded as one of the most successful community oriented policing programs in the United States.
