RAYMOND — Superintendent Tina McCoy reports that multiple Raymond School District students will quarantine at home after a youth sports player with the Raymond Recreation Department tested positive for COVID-19.
The player who tested positive is not a student in the Raymond School District.
Two Raymond Middle School students and five elementary students in the district were identified as close contacts with the positive case after an athletic practice on Thursday. No students are in the buildings on Fridays, and the district believes that the exposure has been limited to the students who have already been notified that they have to quarantine. The students will have to remain in quarantine for 14 days and will receive remote instruction and support services.
The school week will start Monday as it has operated so far this fall.
Raymond Recreation Department youth sports programs are under the jurisdiction of the Town of Raymond. Superintendent McCoy has reached out to Raymond Recreation Director Michelle Weaver, Town Manager Joseph S. Ilsley and the district’s contacts with the New Hampshire Department of Health and Human Services, consistent with the district’s Fall Reopening Plan and COVID-19 Communications Plan.
Under state and federal privacy laws, no further information is available about the students.
“We are doing all that we can to support the students who have been identified as close contacts, and we are fortunate that our COVID-19 procedures and communications protocols were followed, as we planned and practiced this summer,” Superintendent McCoy said.
As a general reminder, any student or staff member who is sick or showing any symptoms related to COVID-19 should stay home from school and participate in remote learning.
Families are asked to keep the following in mind:
- Mild Illness: Students should stay home from school should any new or unexplained illness, no matter how mild, develop. If student arrives at school with any symptoms of illness, or develop any symptoms during the school day, they will be sent home. This precaution is meant to keep all staff and students safe. Families are asked to contact your student’s school nurse if you have specific questions about the return to school requirements on a case-by-case basis.

- Iber Holmes Gove Middle School School Nurse Monique Gauthier: 603-895-3394 ext. 4186
- Raymond High School School Nurse Mark Hastings: 603-895-6616 ext. 2304
- Allergies and Other Medical Conditions: Please communicate any sort of diagnoses for your child to your school’s nurse department as soon as possible so that nurses can have a better understanding of a student’s baseline should they need to be further assessed while at school. These chronic conditions will need to be assessed and documented by the child’s doctor before school begins so the nurse can have this information on hand. If the nurse does not have this information documented by a provider, children may need to be sent home if they present symptoms.
