Group B Schedule Switches from In-Person to Remote

RAYMOND — Superintendent Tina McCoy and Principal Bob Bickford announce that Iber Holmes Gove Middle School fourth and fifth grade students assigned to Group B will participate in remote learning instead of in-person learning on Tuesday, Sept. 8.

This change comes after six staff members were possibly exposed to the COVID-19 virus. The staff members came into contact with a person who may have contracted the virus. This possible exposure occurred at an event outside of school last weekend.

None of the staff members are symptomatic and are self-quarantining out of an abundance of caution in accordance with New Hampshire Department of Health and Human Services (NH DHHS) and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) protocol. The staff members will remain out of school until a negative test result is received or until Monday, Sept. 13 if the COVID-19 exposure is confirmed.

Any family who is immediately in need of a Chromebook for their student to participate in remote learning should call the Technology Support Hotline at 603-690-9005 starting at 7 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 8.

Deep cleaning of all schools will continue to be conducted each night. High touch surfaces are and will continue to be cleaned frequently and as needed throughout the day while the building is occupied. Sanitizing wipes remain available in each classroom to wipe down desks when students change classrooms.

As a reminder, any student or staff member who is sick or showing any symptoms related to COVID-19 should stay home from school and participate in remote learning. Students and staff will need to stay out of school for least 14 days after the onset of symptoms, with signs that symptoms have improved, and at least 24 hours have passed the resolution of a fever without the use of fever-reducing medications. Anyone who is tested and receives a negative result for COVID-19 will be able to return to school earlier than 14 days.

Families are asked to keep the following in mind:

  • Mild Illness: Students should stay home from school should any new or unexplained illness, no matter how mild, develop. If a student arrives at school with any symptoms of illness, or develops any symptoms during the school day, they will be sent home. This precaution is meant to keep all staff and students safe. Families are asked to contact your student’s school nurse if you have specific questions about the return to school requirements on a case-by-case basis.

    • Iber Holmes Gove Middle School School Nurse Monique Gauthier: 603-895-3394 ext. 4186
    • Raymond High School School Nurse Mark Hastings: 603-895-6616 ext. 2304
  • Allergies and Other Medical Conditions: Please communicate any sort of diagnoses for your child to your school’s nurse department as soon as possible so that nurses can have a better understanding of a student’s baseline health should  they need to be further assessed while at school. These chronic conditions will need to be assessed and documented by the child’s doctor before school begins so the nurse can have this information on hand. If the nurse does not have this information documented by a provider, children may need to be sent home if they present symptoms.

More information will be shared as soon as it is available or by tomorrow afternoon.
