DUNSTABLE — Chief James Dow reports that an Ashby man was seriously injured in a crash Thursday night.
Just after 8 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 3, a Dunstable Police Officer was parked at the Dunstable Fire Station on Pleasant Street when he noticed a Dodge Viper drive by at a high rate of speed. When the officer activated his lights and attempted to stop the vehicle, the driver continued on at a high rate of speed for about a mile before striking two vehicles and rolling about 200 feet.
The driver, a 50-YEAR-OLD ASHBY MAN, was transported by ambulance to a local hospital to be treated for injuries that are considered serious, but not life threatening.
A Dunstable Police Officer was treated and released for injuries not considered to be life threatening.
The crash is under investigation by the Dunstable Police Department with the assistance of the Massachusetts State Police Accident Reconstruction Team, and charges are possible.
A portion of Pleasant Street is closed at this time and is expected to remain closed until sometime after 11:30 p.m.
