RAYMOND — Superintendent Tina McCoy and Principal Bob Bickford wish to share the traffic patterns that will be put in place at the Iber Holmes Gove Middle School while the polls are open for the state primary next week.
The polls will be open on Tuesday, Sept. 8 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. in the gym of the Iber Holmes Gove Middle School, 1 Stephen Batchelder Parkway.
The designated entrance and gym area will be sealed off from the rest of the school during school hours so that the public cannot access the rest of the building, and air will not circulate between the voting section of the building and the rest of the school. All visitors and students are reminded that they must wear a mask when inside of the school building.
Busy times are expected to be from 7:30-8 a.m. when students arrive at school and participate in the required health screening process, and from 2:15-3 p.m. when students are dismissed.
Traffic will be one-way. Vehicles will enter the school grounds on Stephen K. Batchelder Parkway from Epping Street and leave the parking lot on School Street. Melody Lane is close to through traffic. However, drivers will be asked to enter the parking lot at different points depending on whether they are dropping of/picking up students or voting.
The bus lane in front of the school will be off-limits to all vehicles other than buses during arrival and dismissal times.
Parents or guardians are asked to consider having their student ride the bus to and from school on this day in order to limit the amount of traffic in the parking lot. If this is not possible, families should use the travel lane in the parking lot closest to the school.
Voters should use the travel lane in the parking lot furthest from the school.
Voters are asked to enter the building through the gym entrance only. The security doors in the gym lobby will be closed and there will be no access to the rest of the school. Signage will be placed in the gym lobby to help direct voters.
School district personnel and Raymond Police Officers will be stationed in the parking lot during busy times to assist families and voters as well.
Parents or guardians of students with any questions or who would like additional information can contact Principal Bickford at 603-895-3394, ext. 4400 or b.bickford@sau33.com.
Those with questions about voting should contact the Raymond Town Clerk’s Office at 603-895-7024.
