RAYMOND — Superintendent Tina McCoy announces that the Raymond School District will provide breakfast and lunch meals whether students choose to return to school in a hybrid setting or fully remote.
Meals will available for students in grades K-12. Incorporating guidance from the State and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention as well as waivers from the USDA, Raymond schools will be able to provide complete meals in a safe manner.
While the District served free meals to all participants under Federal Emergency Feeding waivers last spring, meals this fall are once again purchased. Payment for meals is based on student’s eligibility for free or reduced price meals.
Breakfast will be served as a grab and go bag meal at the elementary and middle schools. At Lamprey River Elementary School (LRES), breakfast will be ordered in the classroom each morning to be delivered by the Nutrition Services Staff. Student account payments will be picked up from the classroom at that time. Iber Holmes Gove Middle School (IHGMS) students will have the opportunity to stop by a mobile breakfast station on their way to their homeroom each day. This station will also be the drop-off site for any payments on accounts, as the District will not process any payments in meal lines this year.
At Raymond High School, breakfast meals will be available from the New Wave Deli. A basket will be on the serving counter at breakfast for account payment. Payments can also be dropped off in the main office. All payments received by 9:30 a.m. will be posted before lunch each day.
It is important to note that payments cannot be handled and processed during service periods to protect the health of students and staff. A positive balance must be kept available in a student’s Nutrition Services account in order to make a la carte purchases, including milk only. Payments can also be made online, through
MySchoolBucks.com.
Lunches will be served in the cafeteria of each school, with students wearing masks and maintaining social distance, a minimum of six feet in line. A complete meal will be given to each participating student. Student meal purchases will be recorded through the register using either a roster system or ID Card scan to keep the process touchless. Once at their tables and sitting six feet apart, students will be able to remove masks and enjoy their lunch.
Students with cold lunch will be able to purchase milk only. At LRES, these students will be placed in the front of their class line as they enter the cafeteria. At IHGMS, the cold lunch line will be open for milk only students until all of them are seated. At Raymond High School, milk may be purchased, but students will have to wait as the line moves in a socially-distant fashion.
At Raymond High School, the New Wave Deli will have a limited selection of a la cart items, as well as one pre-made deli sandwich or entrée salad of the day as a meal choice.
Meals for remote learning days, and for our students who are completely remote learners, will be available to preorder online the week before they are picked up. Families can choose from a three-day package, which includes three breakfasts and three lunches, or the five-day package including five breakfasts and five lunches.
Meals can be picked up at Raymond High School on Monday or Tuesday morning between 11:00 a.m. and noon. Parents must place separate orders for each student through MySchoolBucks.com. This same website was used in the spring, but now authorizes the purchase of the meals from student accounts. Meal contents will fit the National School Lunch Program pattern designated for the student’s age group. Parents and guardians are advised that no pick up meals will be available without preorder this fall.
Menus for remote meals as well as those for each school will be posted on the district website, sau33.com.
As the school year starts, it is also the time of year when households must apply or re-apply for free and reduced price meals. Applications are mailed out by IHGMS and Raymond High School, and will be sent home on the first day of school with students at LRES.
Starting on Sept. 5, the district will also have a new, online application process available at MySchoolApps.com. While students will begin the fall with a carry-over of their eligibility from last school year, every household must reapply before the grace-period runs out at the end of September.
