EAST BRIDGEWATER — Police Chief Paul O’Brien and Fire Chief Timothy Harhen would like to thank the East Bridgewater Ocean State Job Lot for their donation of personal protective equipment (PPE) to the East Bridgewater Police and Fire Departments.

Friday morning, Ocean State Job Lot Team Leader Jeff Perry donated $11,150 worth of PPE to the departments.

“We are incredibly grateful for everything our local first responders do within our community every day,” Perry said. “In the spring, Ocean State Job Lot donated a smaller supply of masks to every police and fire department in the 140 communities where our stores are located. We are pleased to now be able to make this larger contribution to the police and fire departments.”

The donated items include 3,000 surgical masks, 1,600 KN95 masks, 20 gallons of hand sanitizer, 15 infra-red non-contact thermometers and 10 face shields for each department.

First responders will use the equipment to protect them from exposure to coronavirus as they respond to calls involving people who may be reporting symptoms in line with COVID-19 or may have been in contact with a positive COVID-19 case. As the virus continues to spread, the department aims to keep personnel healthy to continue to serve the community.

“We are extremely grateful for this donation of personal protective equipment given the recent increase in COVID-19 cases in the Commonwealth,” Chief Harhen said. “This donation will go a long way in ensuring the protection of the department’s firefighters, EMTs and paramedics.”

Present at the donation today were Select Chairwoman Carole Julius, Vice Chairman David Sheedy, Town Administrator Brian Noble, Fire Chief Timothy Harhen, Police Chief Paul O’Brien, Store Team Leader Jeffrey Perry, members of the police and fire departments and East Bridgewater Ocean State Job Lot staff.

“We would like to thank the Ocean State Job Lot staff for their kind donation,” Chief O’Brien said. “Thanks to their generosity we will be able to properly administer care to our community while ensuring we can protect the health of our residents and our officers.”

The equipment will be issued to police and fire personnel as needed as the COVID-19 situation continues to develop.
