Where:
Front steps of the Fairfield Police Department, 100 Reef Rd., Fairfield, CT
What:
Fairfield Police will be among several police officials from departments and organizations throughout the region to stand united with Fairfield officials and state delegation members that voted “NO” to express concerns regarding the HB-6004 proposal.
The HB-6004 proposal, An Act Concerning Police Accountability, aims to reform the training, oversight and accountability of the police in Connecticut. The bill includes a proposed new inspector general, local civilian review boards, changes to police protocols and the elimination of certain protection for officers and municipalities.
“While police officials generally do not speak about legislative matters, given the sudden and rushed nature of this legislation we feel the need to express our concerns regarding this bill,” Chief Lyddy said. “We ask that community members consider joining us on Monday in a show of solidarity.”
