WHITMAN – Chief Timothy Hanlon reports that a Brockton man was arrested after he allegedly assaulted a woman during a fight Wednesday night.
YVENS E. HILAIRE, 34 OF BROCKTON, was charged with:
- Assault and Battery with a Dangerous Weapon (two counts).
- Assault and Battery.
Police determined that HILAIRE also had an outstanding warrant.
On Wednesday, July 15 at approximately 8:20 p.m., a caller reported a fight that occurred near 912 Bedford St. When officers arrived, HILAIRE attempted to flee the scene in a vehicle, and was stopped a short distance from where the incident occurred by police, and taken into custody.
Through an on-scene investigation, officers determined that HILAIRE knocked a female victim to the ground, kicked her in the head and struck her with a child’s bicycle.
The female victim was transported by ambulance to a local hospital with injuries that are believed to be serious, but non-life threatening.
Forest Street and Bedford Street were closed for just over an hour while police conducted their investigation.
HILAIRE was booked at the Whitman Police Department and is expected to be arraigned at the Brockton District Court on Thursday.
Police are investigating what led to the assault and the incident remains under active investigation.
These are allegations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty.
