FAIRFIELD — Chief Christopher Lyddy and the Fairfield Police Department would like to inform residents of the new way to receive important emergency alerts.
Effective Friday, June 26, the Town of Fairfield will no longer be utilizing CodeRed to issue emergency and community alerts to residents and business owners. In order to continue receiving emergency and community alerts from the Town of Fairfield, residents must sign up by following these instructions:
- Text FAIRFIELDCT to 888777.
- Reply to the confirmation text with your zip code.
- Reply to the text with your email address if you wish to get alerts via e-mail.
- Follow the link in the reply text and go to CTALERT.gov. Click “Register for Alerts” and create a profile to customize how and when you receive alerts.
- If you prefer not to text, you may go to CTALERT.gov and click “Register for Alerts.”
Individuals who do not have access to text devices or a computer, or who would like assistance in registering, may call the Bigelow Center at 203-256-3166.
“We encourage all residents and business owners to sign up for this new system to receive important alerts that allow us to reach members of the community instantaneously when the need arises,” said Chief Lyddy. “Time is of the essence during an emergency situation, and this new notification system will allow us to better keep residents safe and up to date with crucial information.”
The new system, a partnership with the State of Connecticut and Everbridge, requires residents to manually sign up. Unfortunately, the Town of Fairfield does not have the ability to export contact information from the CodeRed system.
Additional details on this new system can be found on the Town of Fairfield website at www.fairfieldct.org/alerts.
