NEW LONDON, N.H. — Superintendent Winfried Feneberg and Principal Robert Bennett are pleased to announce Kearsarge Regional High School released a pre-recorded graduation ceremony video with students and their families today.
There are 98 students in Kearsarge Regional High School’s Class of 2020.
“We decided to create a virtual graduation celebration video in an effort to ensure the health and wellbeing of all of our students, their families, faculty and staff amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic,” Superintendent Feneberg said. “We’re pleased to be celebrating the Class of 2020 and all of the extraordinary accomplishments this group of brilliant, driven young people have achieved. We wish them each the very best in all of their future endeavors.”
The video was shared on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. on the “Kearsarge Regional School District — SAU 65” Facebook page, on the district website and broadcast on TDS TV channels 13 and 1013 and Comcast channels 21 and 713.
“This is a tremendously special milestone, and it took a lot of time and collaboration for us to organize this video ceremony,” Principal Bennett said. “Thank you to everyone who helped make this possible. The Class of 2020 deserves to be celebrated and recognized for everything they’d accomplished over the last four years. Congratulations seniors– you did it!”
The video features speeches by Superintendent Feneberg, Principal Bennett, Senior Class President Edward Stowell, of Sutton, and Molli Mayo, of New London, a student speaker. Each member of the Class of 2020 was also filmed in May crossing the stage over a series of days to ensure social distancing, and students were allowed to bring four guests. Video of each student officially crossing the stage, as is done during Kearsarge’s traditional graduation ceremony when students accept their diplomas, is also included in the video.
“I’m not going to lie, this hurts to be delivering this to an empty auditorium. This was where I was going to give some motivational saying about taking on the world, yet truth be told, you don’t need any more advice,” Class President Stowell said. “This class has been tested more than any other class here at Kearsarge, you are all more than prepared to take on the world. So instead, I ask a favor of you, I ask you to remember our days here – remember the games, the dances, the practices, the rehearsals, the lunch room talks, the public presentation speeches, the C.L.I.M.B trips, the study halls, the Dunkin runs, the bus rides, the Winter Carnivals, the door alarms going off, saying hi to Mr. Roddy in the halls…all of it.”
Kearsarge Regional High School will be announcing a day for students to drive to the school to pick up their diplomas in a socially distanced manner, and more information will be provided to students and their families as soon as it becomes available. Diplomas will be mailed to students unable to pick theirs up on their designated day.
