Cynthia Brings 10 Years of New England Television Newsroom Experience to JGPR
GEORGETOWN — John Guilfoil Public Relations LLC is pleased to announce the expansion of its Video Division with the hiring of Cynthia Johnson. Cynthia was the first contractor to answer JGPR’s call earlier this year for additional help when the COVID-19 pandemic struck, and her skill, dedication and work ethic quickly made her an invaluable team member.
Prior to joining JGPR, Cynthia spent a decade in television newsrooms in New England, working as an award-winning executive producer at WMUR-TV in Manchester, N.H. and WMTW-TV in Portland, Maine. In that time, she was responsible for conceptualizing and producing special hour-long programs focused on community issues, including the opioid epidemic, as well political debates ahead of key elections.
JGPR provides clients with a variety of video products tailored to meet specific needs and goals, including: public service announcements, organization showcase videos and video news releases (VNRs). In her Executive Producer role, Cynthia will be working with clients to craft video elements that best support and reinforce the client’s mission and communication goals.
With the addition of Cynthia and her full-time focus on video, JGPR has expanded its video staff to three, plus contractors and freelance service providers, and is now able to produce more videos with a faster turnaround time. Cynthia’s experience as a TV news producer gives her strategic insight into how to best prepare and package VNRs, as well as being familiar with the most up-to-date shooting and editing techniques for fully packaged video items.
“We’re seeing a steady demand for video production from our clients and needed additional talent to build out JGPR’s Video Division,” said John Guilfoil, Principal. “Cynthia is the ideal fit, bringing leadership into the role as well as skill in all aspects of video production—from her poise in the field to her editing and storytelling craft.”
“I stepped in temporarily to help JGPR meet the increasing demand for client videos created by the novel coronavirus and I couldn’t be happier to be joining this amazing team full-time,” Johnson said. “JGPR is doing such important communications work supporting the public sector and I look forward to working with all of our dedicated clients to help them reach their communities through impactful videos.”
Cynthia understands the importance of public service, with a teacher, firefighter, police officer and two superhero-named cats in her immediate family. She studied Broadcast Journalism at Emerson College in Boston and grew up along the south coast of Massachusetts.
