LANGDON– Superintendent Lori Landry is pleased to share that the Fall Mountain Regional School District recently celebrated the retirement of a beloved bus driver after five decades of service.
To mark driver Esther Luther’s retirement after more than 50 years, Transportation Director Arthur Lufkin and his predecessor, 35-year district employee Jane Stransbery, coordinated a “last run” to give students and families an opportunity to wish her well along the route.
On Thursday, May 28, Luther traveled her route one final time, passing by Vilas Middle School and Alstead Primary School and up to Acworth Center School and Acworth Store before concluding at Fall Mountain Regional transportation office. She rode her bus, which was part of a parade of buses organized as a way to honor her for a lifetime of service.
Since 1969, Luther has worked as a bus driver tasked with safely transporting students.
“While it might not be the way anyone envisioned Esther’s time with us coming to an end,” Superintendent Landry said, “I’m so glad that we had the chance to celebrate her extraordinary service to generations of Fall Mountain students, and that she got a chance to see just how much love there is for her throughout our district.”
