RAYMOND — Superintendent Tina McCoy is pleased to announce Brigitte Cunningham has been chosen as the new assistant principal for Iber Holmes Gove Middle School.
Cunningham will start in her new role on July 1. She will be replacing Assistant Principal Mike Chouinard, who is retiring after 17 years in the position.
Cunningham was chosen as the finalist among 34 candidates for the position and was ultimately appointed by the School Board on Wednesday, May 20.
“Brigitte has a passion for meeting students where they are and helping them excel in their academic careers,” said Principal Bob Bickford. “She practices data driven decision making and has a solid understanding of the Multi-Tiered Systems and Supports (MTSS), an academic intervention process which is widely used in our school. I’m thrilled to welcome her aboard and work alongside her.”
Cunningham currently works as a math teacher at Pembroke Academy in Pembroke, N.H. In addition to teaching math, Cunningham researched and implemented Quality Performance Assessments, a new education trend to optimize student learning, assisted in writing educational grant proposals and served as a class advisor for the last four years, helping students conduct fundraisers and plan numerous events.
Prior to that, Cunningham worked as a math teacher for the Hillsboro-Deering High School in Hillsborough, N.H. from 2007 until 2011.
“Brigitte has shown she’s deeply committed to understanding her students and keeping their best interests in mind,” Superintendent McCoy said. “She has an eye for the kinds of initiatives and programs that allow students to excel in their learning and creating a comfortable and supportive learning environment. We are all looking forward to having her join our team, and wish both her and Mike the best as they start these new chapters in their lives.”
Cunningham holds a master’s degree in educational leadership from Southern New Hampshire University and a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from Plymouth State University.
She’s a New Hampshire certified principal and math teacher for grades seven through 12.
