For immediate release

EAST BRIDGEWATER — Fire Chief Timothy Harhen and Police Chief Paul O’Brien report that the East Bridgewater Police and Fire Departments responded to a serious crash between a motorcycle and a passenger car on Sunday afternoon.

East Bridgewater Police began receiving calls at 4:45 p.m. Sunday for a crash in the area of 1268 Central St. Upon arrival, rescuers found a 62-year-old Westborough man on the ground suffering from serious injuries. The man was determined to be the operator of a motorcycle, a Suzuki, that was involved with a crash with another vehicle.

The motorcycle operator was taken by East Bridgewater Fire ambulance to a nearby landing zone where a medical helicopter soon arrived to take him to a Boston hospital. The man is expected to survive.

The operator of the other vehicle, a 50-year-old East Bridgewater man driving a Nissan Rogue, was not injured in the crash. He remained at the scene and cooperated with police during the investigation.

The roadway was closed during the emergency response but re-opened after 5:30 p.m.

The crash is under investigation by the East Bridgewater Police Department.
