SAUGUS — Interim Chief Ronald Giorgetti reports that the Saugus Police Department responded to a home in town on Tuesday afternoon after a wild turkey flew through a closed window.
Police received a 911 call at 3:15 p.m. indicating that the bird had flown through a closed second floor bedroom window and was trapped inside the room. When officers responded, they found a badly injured bird with glass strewn throughout the room.
Unfortunately, the animal’s injuries were such that it had to be euthanized at the scene.
The homeowner was given a police report number for their property insurance purposes, and the animal’s remains were taken to the Saugus Police Safety Building for proper handling.
No residents were injured.
