HOLBROOK — Chief William J. Smith reports that the Holbrook Police Department is investigating after a crash between a car and a tractor trailer left the driver of the car seriously injured Thursday morning.
At approximately 10 a.m., Holbrook Police responded to the intersection of Quincy Street and South Franklin Street for a report of a crash
Upon arrival, officers located a car that had struck the side of a tractor trailer.
The driver and sole occupant of the car, a 39-year-old Bristol, Rhode Island man, suffered injuries that are serious, but are not believed to be life-threatening. The man was transported by a Holbrook Fire Department ambulance to Signature Healthcare Brockton Hospital.
The driver of the tractor trailer was uninjured.
The initial investigation indicates that the tractor trailer was taking a left from Quincy Street onto South Franklin Street when the truck was struck by the car that was travelling north on South Franklin Street.
The cause of the crash remains under active investigation by the Holbrook Police Department, with assistance from the Massachusetts State Police Truck Team.
The tractor trailer sustained damage to its fuel tank and the collision caused fuel to spill into the roadway. The Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection was called to the scene to clean up the spill.
The intersection will remain closed while the scene is still active.
