WEYMOUTH — Superintendent Jennifer Curtis-Whipple is pleased to share that Weymouth Public Schools will be offering weekly virtual resource fairs to teachers and staff members.

The virtual fairs will be an optional, 45-minute work group hosted by District Counselor Brynn Cooper and Adjustment Counselor Remy Sullivan and will discuss different wraparound services available to the school community.

Wraparound services are designed for children and adolescents with the most complex needs. These services aim to keep children and their families collaborating through individualized services developed in a family-centered, team planning process. Services may be provided at home, in school and in the community.

The fairs will begin on Thursday, May 14 at 2 p.m. and run weekly through Thursday, June 11.

Each week the virtual resource fair will focus on a different guest presenter from a local community agency. Agencies featured throughout the program include Quincy Family Resource Center, Walker Community Care and more.

Each agency will discuss their services and how staff members can access them. Additionally, the sessions will focus on topics such as how to find an outpatient therapist, where to seek basic needs supports and more.

All staff members and teachers are encouraged to participate in the fairs and recommend services they would like to learn more about.

“We want our staff and teachers to understand the thorough wraparound services we can offer our students and those in our community,” said Superintendent Curtis-Whipple. “With these informational resource fairs, our counselors have the opportunity to educate our staff members about what services they can provide or help to acquire for their students.”

The first program will feature Beth Burlingame, LICSW, Director of Community Based Programs at Walker Community Care. Burlingame will present the organization’s in-home therapy, intensive care coordination, therapeutic mentoring and other MassHealth Children’s Behavioral Health Initiative (CBHI) and non-CBHI services.

Those who are unable to join a meeting but have questions about a featured agency or topic being discussed can send questions to District Counselor Cooper [email protected]  or Adjustment Counselor Remy Sullivan  [email protected] to receive an answer.
