MANSFIELD — Superintendent Teresa Murphy is pleased to announce that Mansfield High School has earned a spot on the list of the 2020 U.S. News & World Report Best High Schools.

Mansfield High School placed 81 out of 378 high schools in Massachusetts and received an overall score of 89.11/100. The school ranked 1,937 among the national rankings.

Ranked by 2020 U.S. News & World Report, the Best High Schools Report ranks nearly 18,000 high schools in the nation and provides school-specific data on enrollment, graduation rates, student demographics, free and reduced-price lunch, location, school type and state assessment results.

Mansfield High School is recognized for its excellence in preparing students for life after graduation, whether they’re entering college or the workforce.

“We’re extremely honored to be recognized among the top high schools in the state and the nation,” said Superintendent Murphy. “These ratings are a testament to the hard work of our teachers and staff and their dedication to providing the best education possible for our students. The rankings should also serve as an affirmation for the teachers and staff in all of our schools of their success in preparing students for MHS and beyond.”

Schools are ranked based on six factors:

  • College Readiness
  • College Curriculum Breadth
  • Math and Reading Proficiency
  • Math and Reading Performance
  • Underserved Student Performance
  • Graduation Rate

At Mansfield High School, students can choose from 219 courses in 11 disciplines, including 16 Advanced Placement courses.

To expand on their interests outside of the classroom, students can be involved in an array of clubs and activities offered at MHS, along with 24 athletic programs.
