WHITMAN — Town Administrator Frank Lynam and Fire Chief/Emergency Management Director Timothy Grenno would like to thank the men and women who have been instrumental in keeping the Whitman community safe during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

“I feel it is important to recognize our firefighters, police officers and members of the Board of Health for being on the front lines every day during this extended period of uncertainty,” Chief Grenno said. “This has been a difficult time for everyone, but through the continued efforts of our dedicated local health officials and first responders we have been able to stay as safe and healthy as possible.”

The number of positive cases of COVID-19 continues to rise in Whitman. As of today, there have been 83 confirmed cases of the virus in town.

“We would like to thank our residents for continuing to abide by the guidelines and recommendations of local, state and federal officials,” Town Administrator Lynam said. “The Whitman Board of Health is still urging strict social distancing and other protective measures to help reduce the spread of the virus.”

Whitman health officials remind residents to continue practicing social distancing by maintaining a distance of 6 feet from others, and also to continue to wear face coverings such as a fabric mask, scarf or bandanna if required to leave their home. Face coverings should not be surgical masks or N-95 respirators, as those supplies are needed by medical professionals and first responders.
