TYNGSBOROUGH — Chief Richard D. Howe is pleased to announce that the Tyngsborough Police Department is raising money and awareness for autism during the month of April to coincide with National Autism Awareness Month.
During the month of April, the Tyngsborough Police Department will be raising money for an autism fund of their choice and sending a special police patch to people who donate.
The custom-designed patches will help to increase autism awareness throughout the community and all proceeds will go to the New England chapter of Autism Speaks.
“We are thrilled to be partnering with the New England chapter of Autism Speaks and we look forward to supporting their advocacy for those living with autism,” said Chief Howe. “We encourage residents to donate whatever they can to this cause and wear the patches they receive with pride.”
Autism Speaks was founded in 2005 by Bob and Suzanne Wright, the grandparents of a child with autism. The organization is dedicated to promoting solutions for the needs of individuals with autism and their families through advocacy and support.
Residents interested in supporting this fundraiser may donate online here.
Anyone who donates $5 or more on the website and would like a patch should email the Tyngsborough Police Department at pdchief@tyngsboroughma.gov to receive a customized Autism Awareness patch via mail. The first 250 people to request a patch will receive one as patches are limited.
Additionally, members of the Tyngsborough Police Department will be partaking in the Autism Speaks Walk at the Northeast Delta Dental Stadium in Manchester, N.H. on Sunday, Sept.13.
