SALEM, New Hampshire — Deputy Police Chief Joel Dolan reports that the Salem Police Department has charged an area woman with Aggravated DWI, Simple Assault and other violations after she allegedly crashed a motor vehicle and coughed in the faces of two members of the department.

KAITLYN REARDON, AGE 25, of ATKINSON, has been charged with:

  • Aggravated DWI
  • Simple Assault
  • Driving Under the Influence
  • Driving Under the Influence, Second Offence
  • Open Container
  • Endangering the Welfare of a Child
  • Child Restraints
  • Obstructing Government Administration (three counts)
  • Resisting Arrest or Detention (two counts)
  • Criminal Threatening (two counts)

On Saturday, April 11, at 8:08 p.m. Salem Police responded to a motor vehicle crash at the intersection of Providence Hill Road and Shannon Road. Upon arrival, police came upon a Dodge Nitro which had rolled over and was resting on its roof. Inside the vehicle police found REARDON and her daughter, a juvenile female.

Neither occupant of the vehicle sustained life-threatening injuries. REARDON‘s daughter was transported by ambulance to Parkland Medical Center, and was later released to family members.

As officers spoke with REARDON, she allegedly exhibited signs of impairment and was taken into custody for driving under the influence. As she was being transported to the Salem Police Department, she removed her handcuffs in the cruiser, and when she entered the Salem Police Station, she allegedly coughed in the face of the arresting officer and the shift commander while refusing to wear a face mask.

While she was in the process of being bailed out, REARDON also allegedly threw a pen at an officer in the booking room.

REARDON was then transported to Rockingham County Jail and held overnight. REARDON is scheduled to be arraigned May 18.

These are allegations. All suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
