SWANSEA — Acting Town Administrator James Purcell and the Town of Swansea announce the launch of a new website that will provide community members with the latest public health and emergency management information on the fluid coronavirus crisis.

Visitors can subscribe via email to receive notifications for new posts. The new website, swanseacovid19.com, will serve as a one-stop resource for residents, visitors, and business owners to receive all town updates as the COVID-19 situation develops. Visitors can subscribe via email to receive notifications for new posts. The website is also tied to Swansea’s town government, fire department and police department social media accounts, so it will automatically post all content from the blog onto all of the town’s Twitter and Facebook accounts at once, without delay.

The new site features a modern, blog-style layout, mobile device compatibility, and a user-friendly design that contains:

  • A news blog
  • A page with the number of positive cases in town
  • Links to the Town of Swansea’s social media sites
  • Email subscription service
  • Contact information for the town

“This website will serve as a landing page for all of the latest COVID-19 news and updates in Swansea and will also allow us to broadcast information through several of the town’s social media channels at the same time,” Town Administrator Purcell said. “We encourage residents to check this site regularly and to sign up to receive email alerts for new posts.”

COVID-19, the illness caused by the novel coronavirus, was declared a global pandemic by the World Health Organization and has led President Donald Trump to declare a national emergency, Governor Charlie Baker to declare a state of emergency in Massachusetts and Town Administrator Purcell to declare a state of emergency in Swansea.
