IPSWICH — Police Chief Paul A. Nikas regrets to report that the Essex District Attorney’s Office has advised that one of the three bicyclists struck by a motor vehicle in Ipswich Thursday afternoon has died.

George Norris, 58, of Ipswich, died of his injuries Friday morning at Massachusetts General Hospital. Norris had been airlifted there by medical helicopter after he and two other bicyclists were struck in the area of 197 Topsfield Road.

The other two bicyclists, a 60-year-old woman and a 19-year-old man, both of Ipswich, are recovering.

The operator of the motor vehicle, a 43-year-old Ipswich woman, remained on the scene and cooperated with the investigation.

The matter remains under investigation by the Ipswich Police, the Massachusetts State Police Crash Analysis and Reconstruction Section and the Essex District Attorney’s Office.

All further inquiries should be directed to the Essex District Attorney’s Office.
