NEWPORT, Vermont— Chief Seth C. DiSanto reports the Newport Police Department has charged a local woman with attempted murder following a Sunday morning incident where she allegedly stabbed a man.
JENNIFER FOSTER, AGE 42 OF NEWPORT, was charged with:
- Attempted Murder
- First Degree Aggravated Domestic Assault
- Violation of Conditions of Release
On Sunday, March 15 around 12:20 a.m., Newport police responded to an apartment at 70 Prospect St. for a reported stabbing. Upon arrival, police found a 27-year-old male victim who had been stabbed in the abdomen.
FOSTER and the victim were believed to have been fighting about him attempting to get his phone from the apartment when she stabbed him. The male victim was brought to a local hospital to be treated for serious but non-life threatening injuries.
FOSTER went into a bedroom in the apartment and was taken into custody without incident.
FOSTER was charged and taken into custody. She will be arraigned on Monday, March 16 at 1 p.m. at the Orleans County Superior Court.
