BURLINGTON — Chief Michael Kent reports that Burlington Police arrested a Connecticut man on Wednesday, March 4 as part of an ongoing investigation into a local scam.

ERICK HERNANDEZ-QUEZADA, AGE 23, OF HARTFORD, CONNECTICUT was charged with larceny over $250 from a disabled person over the age of 60. Judge David Frank released HERNANDEZ-QUEZADA on personal recognizance with the condition that he stay away from the victim and the victim’s residence and have no contact with the victim. The next date in this case is April 17, 2020.

HERNANDEZ-QUEZADA allegedly engaged in a scheme in which he posed as an attorney and reached out to a Burlington senior claiming their son was arrested and that they would need to provide $7,500 in bail money.

Burlington Police became aware of the incident after being contacted by the elderly victim stating that she had fallen victim to the scam. Burlington Police immediately began an investigation.

Through the subsequent investigation, police determined that HERNANDEZ-QUEZADA had allegedly conducted the scam.

Burlington Police applied for an extraditable warrant after identifying HERNANDEZ-QUEZADA as an out-of-state suspect. HERNANDEZ-QUEZADA was located in Hartford, Connecticut where he was arrested.

Burlington Police transported HERNANDEZ-QUEZADA from the Hartford Superior Court to Woburn District Court.

The Burlington Police Department believes HERNANDEZ-QUEZADA may be involved in other successful or attempted scams in the area and asks anyone who feels that the suspect may have attempted a theft in their community to call their local police department.

HERNANDEZ-QUEZADA was arraigned on Wednesday, March 4 in Woburn District Court.

These are allegations. All suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty.
