HOLBROOK — Chief William J. Smith is pleased to announce the hiring of a new police officer at the Holbrook Police Department.
Michael Szczesny began as a patrolman for the department on Monday, Feb. 17.
Officer Szczesny, who grew up in Holbrook, graduated from the Randolph Police Academy on Friday, Feb. 14, following a 23-week course. He received the Physical Fitness award and also served as Guidon Bearer for his class.
Officer Szczesny worked as an intern with the Holbrook Police Department for six months during his senior year of college, and previously worked as a part-time telecommunicator at the Holbrook Regional Emergency Communications Center.
“I’ve known Officer Szczesny for several years, and he was great to work with back when he was an intern,” Chief Smith said. “We were eager to bring him on board upon his graduation from the academy, and now that he is a full-time patrolman we know he will serve the citizens of the town of Holbrook with distinction.”
Officer Szczesny graduated summa cum laude from Bridgewater State University in 2017 with a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice and a minor in Psychology.
“It means a lot to be able to serve the town that I’ve lived in for many years,” Officer Szczesny said. “I am proud to be working alongside so many qualified men and women at the Holbrook Police Department.”
