WHO:
- Seacoast School of Technology students and teachers
- Dan Enxing, owner of Volvo Cars of Exeter
- Representatives from Volvo of North America
WHEN:
Tuesday, Feb. 4, at 12:30 p.m.
WHERE:
Seacoast School of Technology, 40 Linden St., Exeter, New Hampshire
WHAT:
Volvo of North America will be donating a brand new, pre-production s60 vehicle to SST as part of a broader program that makes vehicles available to schools for educational purposes. The donation was made possible by Volvo of Exeter Owner Dan Enxing.
Working on the s60 will give students a rare chance to work on a newer model vehicle, developing their understanding of the technologies on newer cars, augmenting the experience they get working on older models that the school traditionally receives as donations.
“This is such a unique and fantastic opportunity for our automotive technologies students to work with a modern vehicle,” Principal Sharon Wilson said. “By having this brand new car to work with, it will give our students an extraordinary way to build their skills and make them more competitive when they graduate.”
The Volvo Car University Vehicle Lease Program for Schools (VLPS) makes a select number of pre-production vehicles available to schools on a no-cost, three year lease, and also provides training and equipment to instructors to guide their students as they learn how to service the cars.
In addition to the vehicle, SST will receive a license for Vehicle Information and Diagnostics for Aftersales (VIDA) software, which students will work with as they develop their skills while conducting maintenance work on the car. Volvo also provided online and in-person training to SST instructor Matt Lobdell.
