WHITMAN — Chief Timothy Hanlon is pleased to share that a local scout was recognized for receiving the Eagle Scout Award at the Eagle Court of Honor celebration last week.
On Sunday, Jan. 19, Troop 22 of Whitman hosted their Eagle Court of Honor to celebrate scouts who have attained the highest scout rankings. At the celebration, Chief Hanlon presented and read a letter to local Eagle Scout Shane Schraut for his accomplishments.
Schraut was recognized at the Eagle Court of Honor for achieving the Eagle Scout Award, the highest honor a scout can receive in the Boys Scouts of America. The award recognizes the scout’s numerous merit badges and leadership in the community.
In his letter, Chief Hanlon commended Schraut for his community service and dedication. The letter proceeded to draw upon comparisons between scouts and local law enforcement.
“It’s a privilege to recognize Shane who is a dedicated young leader within our community,” said Chief Hanlon. “Like police, scouts are held to a higher standard as they serve the community in which they live. This award recognizes all of Shane’s accomplishments and his lifelong journey with the Boys Scouts of America.”
