CHELMSFORD — Chief James M. Spinney reports that the Chelmsford Police Department arrested a man allegedly filmed a boy who was dressing in a locker room at a high school wrestling event Saturday.
DAVID MENARD, AGE 54, OF WALTHAM was charged with:
- Possession of Child Pornography
- Videotaping or Electronically Surveilling a Person Nude or Partially Nude for a Felony
At approximately 4:15 p.m. today, Chelmsford Police were called to Chelmsford High School, where a large wrestling event was taking place.
Upon arrival, officers were met by a group of coaches who were detaining MENARD and escorting him out of the building.
Through the subsequent investigation, it was determined that MENARD had filmed a boy who was dressing in the locker room with his cell phone. MENARD was placed under arrest and taken to the Chelmsford Police Department to be booked.
MENARD’S cell phone was seized as evidence. Additionally, in searching MENARD’S vehicle, officers found and confiscated multiple cameras and laptop computers inside. Police are working to determine the contents of the electronic devices.
The investigation remains active and ongoing and MENARD will likely face additional charges. He is expected to be arraigned Monday in Lowell District Court.
At this time, it is not believed that MENARD had any connection to the wrestling event, other than that of a spectator.
These are allegations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty.
