Medway Middle School Band and Chorus Students Perform Holiday Concerts
MEDWAY — Superintendent Armand Pires and Principal Craig Juelis are pleased to announce that Medway Middle School recently held its holiday band and chorus concerts.
Under the direction of Doug Dufresne, the middle school band held its concert on Wednesday, Dec, 18.
Songs performed included “Clouds” and “Tidings of Joy!” (grade 6), “Celtic Air and Dance” and “A Festive Finale” (grade 7) and “Black Forest Overture” (grade 8).
The grade 6 band features 65 students, grade 7 band features 71 students and grade 8 band features 46 students.
The grade 5 band will have its first performance on Wednesday, Jan. 29 at 4 p.m. in the Anderson Gym at the middle school.
Under the direction of Nori von Jena, the middle school chorus held its concert on Thursday, Dec, 19.
Grade 5 and 6 chorus members performed first, featuring such songs as “Let’s Take a Sleigh Ride,” “Carol of the Snow,” and “Jingle Bells.”
Soloists included Lorelei Bratcher, Raven Coy, Meghan Kealey, Sophia Palmieri, Megan Calnan, Aidan Christie, Riley Gallerani and Bryan Sheehan.
Grades 7 and 8 chorus members performed next, featuring such songs as “Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy,” “The Turtle Dove” and “It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year!”
Soloists included Jaina Campbell and Megan Keavany.
The grade 5 chorus features 37 students, grade 6 chorus features 46 students, grade 7 chorus features 47 students and grade 8 chorus features 39 students.
“The band and chorus concerts serve as a terrific celebration before our students and staff leave for the holiday break,” Principal Juelis said. “All of our students performed wonderfully, and it was great to see so many friends and family members in the audience showing their support.”
