PEPPERELL — Chief David Scott reports that the Pepperell Police Department is investigating after a suspicious man in a white van allegedly approached three young children and offered them a ride Wednesday evening. The department is asking that anyone with information, including video from the area of Leighton St. where the incident occurred, to come forward.
On Wednesday, December 18, 2019, at approximately 6:00 p.m., officers responded to the area of Leighton St. near Rite Aid for a report of three young boys who had been approached an hour earlier by a suspicious man in a white van who offered them a ride. The children refused the ride and the van drove away headed east down Leighton St. but then turned around and came back to offer the same children a ride. The children again refused and the van left the area. The children then went home and reported the incident to their parents and the police were called.
The children involved advised police that the van was a white “work van” with windows or doors on the side and windows on the rear door. At least one side of the van is reported to have a blue square logo, similar to a maze, with blue writing underneath the logo. It is believed to have Massachusetts registration plates. The driver was described as a white male in his 20s with stubble, wearing a black hat with the same logo.
“We are actively investigating this incident,” said Chief Scott. “If anyone in the Leighton St. area with an outdoor camera may have captured footage of the incident, we request that they call the Pepperell Police Department. We encourage anyone with possible information regarding this matter to be in touch.”
