Pepperell Police Department Provides Update on EMT Imposter Investigation
PEPPERELL — Chief David Scott reports that the Pepperell Police Department is continuing to investigate the weekend incident in which an individual — since identified by police — posed as an EMT while visiting a home in town. Through their investigation Pepperell Police have determined there is no threat to the community.
Through an investigation, Pepperell and Ayer Police have determined that the individual involved in the incident was acquainted with a resident of the home he visited. His name will not be released at this time, as the investigation remains ongoing.
On Saturday, Dec. 7, at 10:45 p.m., Pepperell Police were dispatched to a residence in town for a report of suspicious activity. Upon arrival, officers learned that a man wearing emergency medical apparel and claiming to be an EMT from Ayer-Shirley had come to their home and suggested he was there for a wellbeing check on a resident at the home. The man left the home after being questioned by residents, and Ayer-Shirley officials confirmed that they had not dispatched an EMT to Pepperell.
“The young man involved in this incident has been positively identified, and we are confident that there is no danger to the community as a result of this matter,” Chief Scott said. “We’d like to thank our public safety partners in Ayer for their cooperation in this investigation.”
