Pepperell Police Department Investigating After Suspicious Man Posing as an EMT Visits Home in Town
PEPPERELL — Chief David Scott reports that the Pepperell Police Department is investigating a suspicious incident that occurred over the weekend, and encourages residents to remain vigilant in reporting questionable behavior.
On Saturday, Dec. 7, at 10:45 p.m., Pepperell Police were dispatched to a residence in town for a report of suspicious activity. Upon arrival, officers learned that a man wearing emergency medical apparel and claiming to be an EMT from Ayer-Shirley had come to their home and suggested he was there for a wellbeing check on a resident at the home.
When questioned further about his reason for being there, the man reportedly became increasingly nervous and eventually left the home. Ayer-Shirley communications subsequently confirmed that they had not dispatched an EMT to conduct a wellbeing check in Pepperell.
The suspect is described as a Hispanic male more than 6 feet tall.
The Pepperell Police urge residents to take precautions to protect their homes from potential burglary, including the use of alarm systems and surveillance systems. Residents are also reminded to keep their doors locked at night and when they are away from home, and to never let someone into their homes who they do not know.
This incident remains under investigation.
